THE BOARD: A world-class community, now with infrastructure to match

An exceptional collective of senior operators had built something remarkable. We gave it a home worthy of what they'd created — and brought it to a new level.

The opportunity

THE BOARD is a collective of senior experts who've helped build and scale some of the world's most recognized brands. Companies engage them to access that expertise through fractional and project-based work. It's Community-first by design — serving members and clients at the same time — a model as distinctive as it is operationally demanding.

By the time we partnered with them, THE BOARD had already built something special: a thriving, fast-growing membership and a reputation to match. That momentum is exactly what created the opportunity. A community operating at this level deserved infrastructure built specifically for it — one branded home capable of holding everything THE BOARD had become, and everywhere it was headed next.

They wanted a single system that could:

  • Bring member data, interactions, and operational workflows together as one source of truth

  • Power a dynamic, filterable, fully branded member directory

  • Unite membership operations, community experience, and client opportunity tracking

  • Carry the full weight of their operations in one place, purpose-built rather than pieced together

  • Reflect their Community-first brand at every touchpoint

What we built

We approached this the way we approach every engagement: operations first. Before touching a tool, we mapped everything THE BOARD needed to run — then engineered the architecture to match, on Softr.

What started as a member directory became the operational backbone for the entire organization. One system, two distinct experiences. On the community side, members log into a fully branded home base where they browse the directory, explore fractional opportunities, and access events and resources. On the operations side, the team works from a private dashboard inside that same system — user groups and permissions mean every audience sees exactly what they should, and nothing they shouldn't.

Under the hood, we unified databases, apps, forms, and automation into one production-ready system:

  • One source of truth. Softr Databases hold all member records, deals, and operational data in a single place.

  • End-to-end membership workflows. Applications come in through a branded form; approval, onboarding, and offboarding all run in one place.

  • A living member directory. Dynamic, filterable, fully branded — built so members can easily find and connect with each other. When Softr shipped Ask AI, we wired it straight in to make search even easier.

  • An opportunities board. Members apply directly to open fractional roles.

  • Events and programming. A centralized calendar plus a knowledge library for recordings and resources.

  • Client pipeline and CRM. Business development and community operations in one system, with purpose-built dashboards for the admin team.

  • Workflow automation. Softr Workflows handle the operational rhythm — flagging new applications, updating member statuses, and keeping the day-to-day moving without manual effort.

Because we built on a platform that keeps evolving, THE BOARD's system evolves with it — new capabilities go to work immediately, with nothing to rebuild.

The new level

With everything running from one purpose-built system, the team's energy goes where it should: into the community itself, not the tooling around it.

Members gained direct access to monetization opportunities, peer discovery, and a growing knowledge library — deepening engagement and retention in a community that was already strong. The team gained clear visibility into applications, engagement, and growth, with workflows that are easier to manage and scale as the membership keeps expanding.

What began as a directory became the foundation a community of this caliber deserved: custom software that empowers senior executives to shape the future of fractional work.
